2027 Off Highway Vans: Here's What's New!

Every model year at Off Highway Van, we build the best adventure van on the market. Then, we spend twelve months testing, iterating, and improving. Much like 2026, we have made some major updates to our camper van floorplans, our sleeping systems, and we've even expanded our offering of bespoke customization options. This is what’s new for 2027 Off Highway Vans. 

WHAT'S NEW FOR 2027 OFF HIGHWAY VANS?

From bespoke finishes, to major floorplan updates, to the complete elimination of flares, we've been busy making 2027 Off Highway Vans the best adventure vans available on the market! Our 2027 vans are lighter, better insulated, and more feature filled than ever!

THE 2027 DOC HOLLIDAY IS COMPLETELY RE-ENGINEERED!

The most exciting update for 2027 Off Highway Vans is by far our completely redesigned Doc Holliday floorplan.

The best adventure van for families got a huge facelift, a completely re-engineered interior, an all new galley with increased water and utensil storage, and, for 2027, has been outfitted with our Series A expanding bedframe!

EXPANDING BEDFRAME COMING TO 2027 DOC HOLLIDAY MODELS

East / West sleeping has always been a huge problem for van life, and until this year, was a drawback of our Doc Holliday family camper van model. In 2027, that changes, for good.

The 2027 Doc Holliday will now be outfitted with our Series A expanding bedframe (78" x 68" when expanded) to bring this model up to our manufacturing standard of North / South sleeping accross our flagship models.

No more crawling over your partner to get out of bed, no more negotiation with 70" of chassis width, no more cricked necks and diagonal sleeping just to fit on your van's bed. Did we mention you don't even need to take your sheets off to expand or stow this new bed system?

MORE WATER. MORE STORAGE. MORE VERSATILITY.

For 2027, the Doc Holliday also got a completely redesigned galley and utility box system. This galley update gives you 25% increased storage for water as well as full-sized aluminum drawers.

Along with this redesign, you get all new customization options (which we'll discuss later on in what's new for all 2027 Off Highway Van models), from counter tops to drawer fascia and powder coat. We can even offer a fully-outfitted kitchen package so your first stop can be the trailhead, not REI.

EAST / WEST SLEEPING IS DEAD. FLARES ARE TOO.

As we mentioned above, 2027 marks the first year where every Off Highway Van model will be available with our Series A (78" x 68") expanding bedframe. This marks a major departure from the camper van industry at large. While every other van builder negotiates with 70" of width to attempt to sleep comfortably with murphy beds and collapsible solutions, we've found a better way.

Being under 5'10" tall shouldn't be a limiting factor to van life. Even with flares, add a couple of pillows, and you're still staring at fiberglass and feeling it on your toes, or you're sleeping at an awkward angle to fit comfortably.

With the expanding Series A bedframe, we can now comfortably sleep 2 adults (even when they're over 6' tall) in a camper van bed. No more crawling over each other, no more awkward angles, just a comfortable nights sleep off-grid.

A FAREWELL TO FIBERGLASS FLARES

Though we have used fiberglass flares in past van builds (up to our 2026 Doc Hollidays) we knew this was a temporary solution. Not only do these flares affect the aesthetic of your van, they're just two more holes that need to be cut in your van's chassis.

For 2027, all Off Highway Van models will use the standard Mercedes Sprinter 2500 chassis without the addition of these flares thanks to our expanding bed system. Less leak potential, less aesthetic impact, no paint matching, and a lower profile van build.

ALL NEW KITCHEN OPTIONS FOR ALL MODELS

Not only did we completely redesign the Doc Holliday for this year, we also have a suite of new kitchen galley options for both usability and aesthetic!

INVISACOOK + COOK-THROUGH PORCELAIN COUNTERTOPS

Tired of losing valuable counter space every time you want to cook a meal in your van? For 2027, you can now option your Off Highway Van with the Invisacook system and porcelain countertops.

This system allows you to directly cook through your porcelain countertops (using a silicone mat). Simply place your mat, place your induction-safe pan on top, and turn the system on. In minutes you'll have a hot pan while the surface of your countertop remains cool to the touch.

BESPOKE DESIGN OPTIONS: ALL NEW FOR 2027

Though "Your Van. Your Way." is one of our core tenants of our builds, we understand how overwhelming this design process can be for some customers. For 2027, we're introducing signature palettes designed by a professional interior designer.

Whether you're looking for a great baseline to start from, or are just overwhelmed by the multitude of colors and finish choices, our signature palettes can offer premium design without the hassle of designing your van entirely by yourself.

RETURNING CUSTOMER FAVORITES

Some things you redesign, some you leave just the way they are. For 2027, we've only added to our suite of available customizations. We're returning fan favorites from previous years like:

HYDRONIC HEATED FLOORING + ZEROWOOD SUBFLOOR

What may seem like a luxury in a modern home is actually a major quality of life upgrade to your off-grid experience. With this option, you don't have to rely on your van's heater to distribute heat evenly (which it won't). This system heats your floor, your van's furniture, and even your walls (radiantly).

This hydronic system allows heat to be evenly distributed throughout your van rather than (like most heating systems) getting stuck in the top half, while your floor stays ice cold.

With this heated floor, you also remove the final piece of wood from your van build. Our ZeroWood composite subfloor is designed to be stronger, more durable, and lighter than a standard camper van subfloor. This design also allows us to disperse the heat effectively to all areas of your van's floor.

SERIES A DECKED ROOF RACK

This was a major update to our 2026 lineup, but is being carried forward into our 2027 model year.

This all new roof rack allows you to not only house your solar energy system, but to have a fully walkable roof rack system with Molle panels to mount and store all of your large gear.

FOX + DARK STAR OFFROAD SUSPENSION SYSTEMS

A major hit from 2026 returns for 2027 models! This was a major improvement to our suspension offering and after a year of customer feedback and testing, we're proud to continue to offer the Fox 2.5 Race Elite Series Kit.

We've also upgraded our Dark Star Offroad rear coilover kit to include a front strut for 2027 giving you two complete suspension systems to choose from!
